Phillies trio earns NL award nods

Three Philadelphia Phillies players are among the finalists for Major League Baseball awards announced on Sunday.

Left-hander Cristopher Sánchez secured a spot as a National League Cy Young Award finalist. This marks his second consecutive season in that group. He finished 18-0 with a 2.91 ERA in 2026. His 207 innings pitched set a career high and ranked second in baseball behind Miami's Sandy Alcantara. Sánchez also set a single-season record for the longest scoreless streak by a left-hander with 50 and two-thirds innings. He led all National League pitchers in bWAR with 8.1, starts with 33, and wins with 18.

Closer Jhoan Duran was named a finalist for the NL Reliever of the Year Award. The Baseball Writers' Association of America is introducing this specific honor this season. Duran posted a 1.82 ERA and a 0.994 WHIP in 59 and one-third innings. He converted 33 of 35 save opportunities, ranking fourth in the National League.

Manager Don Mattingly was selected as a finalist for NL Manager of the Year. He joins Milwaukee's Pat Murphy and Atlanta's Walt Weiss in the voting. Mattingly took over from Rob Thomson on April 28. He guided the team from a 9-19 start to a 79-55 record. The Phillies finished second in the NL East but lost to the Braves in the wild-card series. The organization made Mattingly the full-time manager this offseason.

The award winners will be revealed the week of Nov. 9. That announcement will also include the MVP and Rookie of the Year winners for both leagues. Detroit Tigers infielder Kevin McGonigle, a Delco native, is a finalist for American League Rookie of the Year.
