A 43-36 victory for the Cincinnati Bengals over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday produced a final score that had never appeared in the 107-year history of the National Football League.

The result stands as the 1,098th unique final score recorded by the NFL. The margin of victory was determined by a sequence of late-game plays that altered the trajectory of the contest, which had seen a 36-29 lead for Tennessee with under four minutes remaining in regulation.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow orchestrated an 81-yard scoring drive to tie the game at 36 with 1:17 left on the clock. The drive concluded with an 18-yard pass to receiver Tee Higgins. In overtime, the Bengals secured possession first. Burrow completed four passes for 51 yards before running in for a nine-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 43-36.

Burrow finished the game with 462 passing yards and five touchdown passes. He also threw three interceptions. The performance made him the second player in NFL history to record at least 450 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown in a single contest. His two primary targets, Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, each accumulated more than 140 receiving yards.

The path to the unprecedented score began in the third quarter when the Bengals converted a safety while trailing 21-21, taking a 23-21 lead. Tennessee responded with a touchdown to reach 28-23. Cincinnati then scored to lead 29-28. During that drive, the Bengals attempted a two-point conversion but failed to convert, a decision that contributed to the final point differential.

This marks the first time since 2022 that the Bengals were involved in a unique final score, having previously defeated the New England Patriots 22-18. For Tennessee, it is the first such occurrence since a 45-26 win over the Detroit Lions in 2020. This was the third unique score of the 2026 season. The last new score had been recorded nearly two months prior to this game.

The NFL recorded four unique scores in the 2025 season. As the pool of possible scores shrinks, such events become statistically less frequent. The 2026 season now has three unique scores, requiring only one more to match last year's total.
