Dusty Baker and Lou Piniella, both former managers of the Cincinnati Reds, are on the ballot for the 2027 Class of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. They are two of eight candidates named to the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee ballot.

The committee will convene on December 6 in San Diego. Results of the vote will be announced live on MLB Network’s “MLB Tonight” at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The ballot lists four managers and four executives. It includes Sandy Alderson, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, Brian Sabean, Ted Turner, and Bill White. Turner is the only candidate on the list who is not living. All other candidates are alive.

Baker managed the Reds from 2008 to 2013. His 26-season managerial career included stops with the Giants, Cubs, Nationals, and Astros. He reached the postseason 13 times and won the 2022 World Series with the Houston Astros. As a player, he spent 19 years in the majors, won a World Series with the 1981 Dodgers, and was selected as an All-Star twice.

Piniella managed the Reds from 1990 to 1992. He led the team to the 1990 World Series championship. His 23-season managerial career spanned the Yankees, Mariners, Devil Rays, and Cubs. He recorded 1,835 wins. He also guided the 2001 Seattle Mariners to a franchise record 116 victories. As a player, he hit .291 and won World Series rings with the 1977 and 1978 New York Yankees.

Any candidate who receives at least 75% of the committee’s votes will be elected. Inductees will be honored in Cooperstown on July 25, 2027. That ceremony will also include winners from the 2027 Baseball Writers’ Association of America election, which is scheduled for January 19, 2027.

The Contemporary Baseball Era Committee handles candidates whose primary contributions to baseball occurred after 1980. A separate ballot for players from this era will be considered in the fall of 2028. The Classic Baseball Era Committee, which reviews contributions from before 1980, will meet in the fall of 2027.
