Lakers Send Bronny James to G League Affiliate

The Los Angeles Lakers assigned Bronny James to their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, on Thursday. The organization also sent first-round draft pick Cameron Carr to the same team in the same transaction.

James has shifted between the NBA roster and the developmental league throughout his three-year professional career. During the current season, the Lakers hold a 7-2 record. In five appearances, James has averaged 0.8 points and played 2.4 minutes per game. Fans at home games have frequently chanted his name during the final minutes of those wins.

The Lakers retained James after his father, LeBron James, departed for the Philadelphia 76ers in the summer of 2025. Over his first three NBA seasons, James has played in 74 games. His performance in the G League has been stronger, with averages of 18.4 points and 4.4 assists per game over the last two years.

The G League affiliate has relocated its home venue for this season. The team previously played at a training complex in El Segundo, California. It now plays at Acrisure Arena near Palm Springs.

The Coachella Valley Lakers begin their regular season on Friday. The NBA Lakers host the Portland Trail Blazers on the same day. Portland is one of only two teams that have defeated Los Angeles this season.
