A live stream featuring Anna Bokhan, a cosmetic tattoo artist in Charlotte, North Carolina, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The session is part of the WBTV series Coffee & Conversations. Host Jana Angel will interview Bokhan about her work with clients who have physical scars from past experiences, surgery, or conditions such as cleft lips.
Bokhan has worked in the United States for 10 years. She immigrated to the country and initially held multiple jobs that she described as unfulfilling. She told her parents she would use her savings to learn how to tattoo eyebrows. She viewed the move as a necessary step to invest in herself, even though it seemed like an unusual career choice at the time.
Bokhan is the founder of MARA Cosmetic Tattoo Studio & Academy in the Queen City. She works in the cosmetic tattooing industry, which she describes as one of the most scrutinizing fields. Her studio offers services for everyday enhancements, including lip blush, powder brows, and subtle eyeliner. She also specializes in restorative cosmetic tattooing, a practice focused on softening the appearance of scars.
Angel noted in her description of the episode that physical marks can affect how people carry themselves through the world. Bokhan said her goal is not to mask a client's uniqueness or follow fleeting trends. Instead, she aims to create natural-looking enhancements that help clients feel whole and grounded. She views each appointment as a deeply personal process that allows individuals to reclaim their confidence.
Bokhan has expanded her work beyond the studio chair. She runs MARA Pro and TransformINK, which focus on professional product innovation and master-level education for new artists. She also maintains a platform dedicated to transformation storytelling. These initiatives allow her to equip the next generation of artists and share the stories of her clients.
The episode will be recorded at Community Matters Cafe in Charlotte. This location serves as a live learning lab for graduates of the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Participants complete a 180-day life skills and rehabilitation program at the cafe to build confidence and restore hope. Angel chose the venue because it aligns with the series' focus on people making choices to build fulfilling lives.
The Coffee & Conversations series features interviews with people in the Charlotte area who are working to get the most out of their lives. Angel said she wants to share stories about the choices people make to improve their own well-being and help others. The live stream will allow viewers to watch the conversation as it happens.
Bokhan will be available to answer questions and discuss her philosophy during the broadcast. The stream is accessible through the video player on the WBTV website. Viewers can also click a specific link if the video player does not work on their device. The segment is designed to offer a look into the practical and emotional aspects of restorative cosmetic tattooing.
