President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Daytona Beach on Friday. The event marks the final stretch of his midterm tour and places him in the center of a competitive Florida governor's race.

Trump will support Byron Donalds, the Republican candidate for governor. Donalds is challenging David Jolly, a Democrat who previously served in the U.S. House as a Republican. Polls indicate Donalds holds the lead, though analysts view the contest as close enough to require active campaigning. This dynamic contrasts sharply with 2022, when Ron DeSantis won reelection by nearly 20 points.

The president is also expected to campaign for several congressional Republicans. Ashley Moody, appointed to the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio became Secretary of State, is running in a special election against State Rep. Angie Nixon. Moody seeks to retain her seat for another two years.

Daytona Beach sits within the district of Rep. Randy Fine, a freshman legislator sworn in April 2025. Fine replaced Mike Waltz, who joined the Trump administration and now serves as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Florida voluntarily redistricted its congressional map ahead of these midterms. Republicans currently hold 20 of the state's 28 House seats. The new boundaries may allow that number to increase, though Democrats are contesting key races in the redrawn districts.
