The Longboat Key Police Department recorded a series of minor incidents between October 16 and October 21, 2026, ranging from traffic violations to property disputes. Officers resolved each case without arrests or major citations, closing the reports after on-site assessments and resident communications.

On October 17, Officer Simon Maple stopped a gray Toyota SUV on the 5700 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive. The driver, operating in the rain without headlights, presented a Florida ID card rather than a driver's license. A records check revealed the license had been revoked in 2025 for habitual traffic violations. The driver cited a medical need to transport his girlfriend to an urgent care facility as the reason for driving. He received a criminal citation for driving with a revoked license and a warning for the headlight violation. His court date is set for November 24 in Manatee County.

Other calls included a flat tire assistance on October 16, where Officer Maple helped a driver in the 400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive move her vehicle out of a bike lane. On October 18, Officer Dallas Troyer investigated a disturbance complaint involving a homeowners association president. The complainant reported verbal threats, but officers determined the incident lacked the apparent ability for the threat to be carried out, resulting in a non-criminal closure. That same day, a resident found a driver's license on the Longboat Pass Bridge, which was secured in the department's evidence room.

On October 19, Officer James Barrett examined a reported abandoned vessel in Buttonwood Cove. He found a floating dock with a small boat and a private property sign, concluding no state or town violations existed. On October 21, Officer Jorge Castro Agis handled a property damage report on Yawl Lane where a moving company truck struck a resident's mailbox. The company owner accepted responsibility over the phone, and the resident declined a formal police report in favor of direct compensation.

The department noted that all listed cases were cleared upon resolution. The next scheduled court appearance for the revoked license case is November 24.
