Residents in south Mississippi should expect warmer nights and increasing moisture this weekend. Meteorologist Sam Lucey notes that overnight lows will only dip into the low 60s, a shift from the colder recent nights. Winds will stay light, turning northeast at about 5 mph after midnight.

Friday will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine. Afternoon highs will climb to the upper 70s or reach 80 degrees. Winds will shift from the northeast to the southeast, and dew points will rise as the day progresses. This setup sets the stage for the incoming moisture.

Rain chances jump to 50% on Saturday. Scattered showers may develop by late morning, followed by a few thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Highs will hold near the upper 70s. The probability of precipitation rises to 60% Saturday night, with lows hovering around 68 degrees.

Sunday is forecast to be the wettest day of the weekend. A 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected, particularly in the morning. Skies will clear to partly sunny conditions by the afternoon, with highs remaining in the upper 70s.

Drier weather returns Monday with partly sunny skies and a high near 79 degrees. Northeast winds will strengthen to 10 to 15 mph. Temperatures will stay consistent through Wednesday, with highs in the upper 70s. A slight chance of showers appears Tuesday afternoon, but rain chances increase Wednesday with south winds around 10 to 15 mph.

A cold front moves through by Wednesday night. Lows will drop to the middle 50s. Thursday will bring sunny skies and afternoon highs in the middle 70s, marking a noticeable change in temperature.
