A 28-year-old man from Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested in Secaucus, New Jersey, after authorities accused him of breaking into a vehicle that contained the body of a 62-year-old local resident. The incident occurred on Sunday morning in a parking deck on Mill Creek Drive.

Secaucus Police Department officers responded to a report of an active burglary at approximately 7:48 a.m. They located a 2026 Hyundai Elantra with an open door. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered the deceased 62-year-old man. Investigators stated that foul play is not currently suspected in the death, though the medical examiner's office continues to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police located the suspect across the street from the crime scene at 11:02 a.m. The man, who matched the description of the individual reported for the burglary, fled on foot after disregarding orders from officers. A subsequent foot pursuit led to his arrest. During the stop, officers found credit cards belonging to the deceased in the suspect's possession.

The Hartford man was charged with burglary, theft of movable property, credit card theft, obstructing the administration of law, and failure to report a death. He was processed at the Hudson County Jail. Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller issued a press release thanking the initial reporter for alerting authorities to the crime in progress.

The suspect's arrest marked the end of a same-day investigation that began with the discovery of the body. The charging documents detail the specific items taken from the vehicle and the procedural violations committed by the suspect during the initial police encounter. The case remains active as the medical examiner finalizes the official death report.
