The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested more than 47,000 violent criminals and gang members over the past 21 months, according to figures released on Wednesday.

That total represents a 67% increase compared to arrests made during the final 21 months of the Biden administration, the agency stated in its data report.

FBI Director Kash Patel attributed the surge to expanded cooperation between the bureau, the Department of Justice, and other law enforcement partners. Patel claimed the effort produced the largest reduction in violent crime in United States history.

The bureau also tracked a 30% decline in the national murder rate and a 114% rise in arrests of violent crime suspects. In the drug enforcement sector, agents seized more than 4,600 kilograms of fentanyl. The agency noted that this quantity is sufficient to kill more than 350 million Americans.

Progress extended to the capture of high-profile targets. Law enforcement officers apprehended 10 individuals from the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list. That number is 2.5 times higher than the total captured over the previous four years. Additionally, six fugitives from a newly established Most Wanted Fraudsters list were caught within the first four months of the program's launch.

Arrests of child sex predators and human traffickers rose 13% during the same period, reaching just over 6,000. Patel described the agency's starting point as one of the highest threat environments in American history when President Trump began his second term. He said the bureau responded by delivering in the biggest way they ever have.

The release of these statistics follows a period of intense scrutiny from Republican critics during the previous administration. Those critics had alleged political bias and questioned the bureau's handling of major investigations. Patel cited the new numbers as evidence that a supportive executive branch and active prosecution lead to tangible results on the ground.
