Brianna Brenea Clark and Keyangelo Davon Thorns face multiple criminal charges following an incident at a Gainesville motel on November 2. Law enforcement officers discovered a six-year-old child sleeping in a room where drugs were found within reach. The arrest followed a disturbance call and revealed that Thorns, a registered federal sexual offender, had not updated his address with the state registry.

The incident began at approximately 10:30 p.m. on November 2 when an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Motel 6 on West Newberry Road. The 911 call indicated a woman was screaming that she could not breathe. Deputies located Thorns outside a room in the southeast section of the property. He stated that his girlfriend, Clark, and her son were inside. When the deputy knocked, Clark admitted to making the call but claimed no emergency was in progress.

Officers found cocaine in an open cubby next to the bed, stored in a colorful Altoids mint can. The substance was within arm's reach of the sleeping child. Clark voluntarily stated she would take responsibility for the illegal items in the room. The child was placed in the custody of Alachua County Sheriff’s Office personnel, and the Department of Children and Families was notified. Clark was arrested on a probation violation warrant and allegedly resisted entry into a patrol vehicle.

Deputies determined that Thorns had checked into the motel on October 17. He had not updated his registered address, a requirement for sexual offenders. The room contained his luggage and clothing, indicating he had been residing there for approximately two weeks. When asked if he was allowed to be unsupervised with children, Thorns answered no. This is not his first offense; he was arrested in May 2026 for the same failure to update his information. He had accepted a deferred prosecution agreement in May that would have dropped the charges if he remained crime-free for two more weeks.

Clark has been charged with child neglect without serious bodily harm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and resisting an officer without violence. A subsequent charge of child abuse has been filed, though the report is not yet available. She holds three non-violent felony convictions and four non-violent misdemeanor convictions. This is her second probation violation. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $85,000 for the new charges and ordered her held without bail until the probation violation is resolved.

Thorns has been charged with failure to report a change of address as a sexual offender. He has one federal sexual offense conviction, nine non-violent state felony convictions, and three non-violent state misdemeanor convictions. He is currently on federal probation and under a local deferred prosecution agreement. Judge Miller-Jones set his bail at $50,000.

The charges are based on arrest reports and court records. All listed individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains active as both defendants await their next court dates in Alachua County.
